Beware of some deals via fax and/or phone that seem too good to be true. There are supply "pirates" out there, offering to sell items to at the "old price," before the "big increase next week." Generally, they will try to send you a case of copier or fax toner, but their "case" will only consist of 4 or 5 pieces, where the OEM case will contain 10 or 15 pieces. You will pay the 10- or 15-piece price and receive much less. You may also receive a generic or outdated product, which may cause harm to your machine and end up costing you a substantial amount of money in repair costs. Beware of unknown vendors and shady wholesalers; there is usually a reason why their prices are so low.

Office equipment supplies do have a shelf life, and generic products are not always manufactured to OEM specifications.
